Forgotten History, Creatively Digitized!

In 2010, German photographer and filmmaker Burkhard von Harder discovered a forgotten photo archive from the Soviet era in an abandoned building in Vinnytsia / Ukraine. After the meticulous restoration and digitization of the negative strips, he sought a way to make them accessible to the public.

As part of this significant project, the 10,000 images were creatively processed by ShinyCube, bringing them back to life through AI coloration and professional editing. Additionally, we developed a website that made it possible to creatively present this lost archive online.

We are proud to have contributed our technical and creative expertise to bring this forgotten history to a global audience and preserve the memory of this era.

In this project, artist Burkhard von Harder creates unique works by having carpets woven based on his artistic photo templates and further processes the results into installations and animations.

With our web development and numerous accompanying animations, we support Burkhard von Harder in making his artistic vision accessible to a wide audience and making it experiencable both digitally and in museums.

The site not only presents the 12 impressive carpets but also includes an accompanying film that sheds light on the creative process and the deeper meaning behind the works.
